Excessive body heat is the symptom of aggravated piita. It is the main complaint of people with pitta constitution.How to detect it?.......... Excessive body heat can cause body discomforts such as

Reasons behind aggravated pitta

  1. Excessive intake of alcohol,spicy,oily food and caffeinated drinks
  2. Intake of certain drugs for prolonged time.
  3. Eating foods which are high in calories.
  4. Exposure to the sun for long time especially from 11 am to 3 pm.
  5. Imbalanced  body metabolism.

If you suffer from excessive body heat you should limit the intake of certain foods or should be avoided at least for a certain period of time.

which Foods should you take in moderate or to avoid?

  • Almost all nuts generate internal body heat.It is better to avoid the intake of nuts. If you ever want to consume them, soak the nuts overnight and can have in the morning.
  • sour fruits
  • legumes
  • caffeinated drinks
  • spices like pepper,garlic,ajwain(carom seed) should be taken in less amount,if possible avoid them.
  • Avoid eating deep fried, hot spicy,fermented food items.
  • Limit the intake of non vegetarian food

How can you reduce the body heat?

  • Drink plenty of fresh water.
  • Include all sweet fruits like apple and pomegranate in your diet.
  • Take sweet and bitter vegetables in your daily diet
  • Include herb like Asparagus and vegetables like cabbage,carrot and pumpkin 
  • It is good to eat legumes in sprouted form.
  • Drink sweetened full fat butter milk. Never drink no fat butter milk it increases internal body heat.
  • Choose oils like coconut,olive or sunflower in cooking. Consuming two teaspoon coconut oil daily is beneficial for your health. Purchase an edible grade virgin coconut oil for the intake, definitely not the refined one you get in most grocery shops.
  • Massage your body with coconut or olive oil before taking a bath.
  • Oiling and having a head bath reduces the body heat.
  • Include spices like cinnamon,fennel,cardamon,ginger,mint,coriander in your diet.
  • Drink pitta tea twice a day.
  • And the most important,eat in a cool ,calm place to promote digestion

Take 1 cup freshly prepared curd and churn it with a cup of chilled milk.you can use a hand blender for this.Add sugar or candy sugar and a pinch of finely grounded cardamon. Simple ,refreshing drink is ready to serve.

Garnish with slices of lemon and mint leaves. your amla juice is ready to serve.
