MY hair loss story
I was experiencing uncompromising hair fall after the birth of my second baby. I took it as a common problem happens post delivery. I did replace my regular shampoo with a bottle of anti hair fall. It reduced my hair-fall comparatively but not stopped at all.
It was my habit to make my mother give me an oil massage whenever i visit her. I like the way she pampers my hair. It was then she noticed a coin sized bald patch on top left ear side. It was only then I came to know that I am getting bald patches. something unexpected and shocked to hear. I asked her to look for anymore. Luckily she could find one at that time.
My mother advised me to consult a dermatologist without wasting time. Since she witnessed some going almost bald over a period of time. she was so concern, after all she is my mother. I took an appointment with a dermatologist whom is well known for his practice at my locality. After the primary inspection he inquired about my routine like
- whether I was going through any stress or depression because of that I was not getting enough sleep, could be a reason
- my family background , could be a reason
Then I was send to check my thyroid level. My thyroid count was normal.During my second visit he gave a detailed account of this condition. In modern term mine is a case of alopecia araeta , an auto immune disorder.According to him there are various factors to be considered for this condition. since my thyroid count is normal , hormonal imbalance during pregnancy could be a reason . In this condition one lose hair in patches. It depends whether you develop with one or more.
He prescribed some hair growth multivitamin capsules , ointments which supposed to stimulate hair growth and to be applied on patches two or three times daily. He emphasized on a healthy diet plan and asked to include more leaves and sea foods in my diet.
During my visits he never ensured that my hair would regrow. I was asked to keep patience since in some cases it takes long to show the results, If the cells there are alive there are utmost chances of hair regrowth. He also informed me that there are anti hair loss injections if i wish i could go for that. I never wanted to be on steroids.
I was under medication for 8 months. Though the medicine reduced my hair loss, my patch was growing in size. my hair turned grey and thin. I noticed one more bald patch right above the first one.
I lost my hope on what i was following. I feared of going bald. I couldn't stop myself to reach my mom for help.
She took me to an ayurvedic doctor. After listening to my history he said this is caused due to excess pitta-body heat. In constitution I am a pitta person and there is a major imbalance in my constitution. I was glad that there is a clear cut reason for my disorder at least. Ayurveda connects hair loss to excess body heat. Excess pitta attacks hair roots and make it weak. Excess pitta is the main cause of thinning and premature graying of hair.
Ayurvedic hair loss treatment is based on the principle to strengthen the hair roots first thus bringing the hair loss under control and the treatments that directly work on ANAGEN phase.
The 3 steps strategy of my recommended treatment which cured my alopecia completely are.
- I was asked to follow a pitta balancing diet plan .I would come to this point later.
- He prescribed this hair oil to apply over scalp daily half an hour before a head bath.
- He suggested instead my store brought shampoos use these ingredients to wash my hair.
